1. Draw a square around the hole using your level and pencil. Use the level to create one side of the square by centering it on a stud.

2. Cut three sides of the square with the drywall saw (do not cut the side centered on the rod just yet. Continuously remove debris while cutting so that it does not fall into the hole.

3. Remove the bar from the drywall with the auxiliary knife. Cut to the end of the line centered on the drywall bolt with the auxiliary knife.

4. Back up the repair with 1 x 4 piece of wood. Do this by placing lots of adhesive on the back of the plate and placing it in place.

5. Attach the back plate to the rest of the drywall with C-clamps. You should see an adhesive coming out of the assembly. This shows a secure link.

Allow the adhesive to dry according to the instructions on the tube. While it dries, cut a piece of plaster for scrap to fit the space. Attach this to the piece of wood and the drywall screw using the drywall screws and the electric drill.

7. Place fiberglass mesh tape over the connection points on the waste size. Let the tape overlap the corners to increase the strength.

8. Apply plaster connection to the fiberglass mesh with the side of the plaster knife. Let it dry and then smooth the connection with a hand sander. Try to match the look of the surrounding wall to make this repair as eye-catching as possible.

9. Apply a few light coats of plaster to the repaired area. As before, you will use the knife to do this. Allow each coat to dry before applying the next, and then on the final coat use hand sanders for easy sanding.

10. Primer the drywall repair area, then paint the same color. Allow paint to fade several inches beyond the repair area to maintain continuity. This completes your drywall ceiling repair job.
